LET BROTHERLY LOVE CONTINUE
Notes of a sermon by Stanley Delves.
‘Let brotherly love continue.” Hebrews 13.1.
I. There is a bond of union expressed – fathers, young men.
Brethren means a family exists, various ages, attainments,
dispositions. But only one Father, one divine nature. This family has
privileges and discipline.
2. Brotherly love.
a. Evidence of a change of nature. We know that we have passed
from death unto life, because we love the brethren.
b. Shows itself in forbearance, prayer, and acknowledgement of
faults one to another.
c. Its neglect opens the mouth of the watching world. “By this shall
all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to
another.” John 13.35.
d. Its observation tends to our soul’s profit.
e. In a church it tends to prosperity and comfort.
