COMFORT IN BEREAVEMENT
When dearest ones are taken, and sorrow fills the breast,
Come unto Me, says Jesus, and I will give you rest,
‘Twas for the joy before Me, I died upon the cross,
And rose that I might show you, My comfort in your loss.
For I will walk beside you, you will not be alone
Through all the days before you, when you are on your own.
A sense of sweet communion I will to you impart,
A knowledge of My presence, and joy within your heart.
You have not lost your dear one, her soul is safe with Me,
And one day you will see her, together you will be
In that great cloud who witness, before you and behind;
At times you may be able sweet fellowship to find.
Then cherish all the blessings you shared on earth below,
And as you thank God for them, sorrow will softly go;
However great the portion you have enjoyed before,
There is far greater measure, for you laid up in store.
